Medical College University of Information Technology and Management
The Biomedical Research and Services Center operating within the structure of the University of Information Technology and Management in Rzeszów is the result of the commercialization of the latest achievements of science and technology. This synergy allows you to realize the boldest, unconventional idea for a unique preparation. From formulation, through safety assessment, all necessary tests, to registration of the cosmetic and its introduction to the Polish or European market – the Center’s team, step by step, carries out tasks that result in the release of the final product.
The Medical College enables members of the Alumni Club to immerse themselves in the world of microbiology and participate in cosmetic research:
- Basic microbiology test, in which, based on appropriate standards, the microbiological purity of the cosmetic is determined, including: the total number of microorganisms (mesophilic bacteria, yeasts and molds), the presence of Pseudomonas aeruginosa, the presence of Staphylococcus aureus, the presence of Candida albicans, the presence of Escherichia coli.
- Test on the effectiveness of the antimicrobial protection of the cosmetic – Maintenance test (the so-called Challenge Test). The test is performed based on the PN-EN ISO 11930 standard and is a simulation of secondary contamination of a cosmetic product that may occur during use of the finished product by the consumer. The preservative system used in a given cosmetic is tested to see whether it adequately inhibits the multiplication of microorganisms in the finished product. Thanks to this test, the safety of using a given cosmetic product can be confirmed.
- General microbiology testing applies to each batch of manufactured cosmetics. They are performed for quality control purposes on the plant’s production line.
