Aleksander Śliwka
Alesander Śliwka started his studies at the University of Information Technology and Management in Rzeszów when he was loaned to the Asseco-Resovia club as a setter, after previously playing for the Warsaw University of Technology club. During his studies, he wrote a bachelor’s thesis on the principles of nutrition and preparation of hotels for volleyball players during the league season, which he defended in 2018. He also received a scholarship from the Minister of Science and Higher Education for outstanding sports achievements in the 2018/2019 academic year. In 2021, he defended his master’s thesis, which analyzed the marketing activities of one of the Polish volleyball clubs. As a student of UITM, he was characterized by high self-discipline, he was able to effectively reconcile his duties and achieve good academic results. He was also known for modesty and respect in contact with the university and its employees, which was confirmed by Dr Agata Gemzik-Salwach, Dean of the College of Management of the University of Information Technology and Management and supervisor of the master’s thesis.
Aleksander Śliwka, a professional volleyball player of the Polish national team, who plays as a receiver, has achieved numerous successes in his sports career. His achievements include, among others: the World Championship (2018), the European Championship (2023) and winning the Champions League three times (in 2021, 2022, 2023), as well as winning the Nations League. He began his volleyball adventure as a student of the Spartakus Jawor club. In the 2013/2014 season, Śliwka was successful as a player of the SMS PZPS Spała team, winning the Young League championship and being recognized as the best player in the competition. The UITM graduate is also a representative of Poland in volleyball, he won the European vice-championship in the cadet category and the bronze medal of the world championship in the same age category. After the 2014/2015 season, in which he played on loan in Warsaw, the player returned to Asseco Resovia. Then played for the AZS Olsztyn team in the 2016/2017 season, and after a short break returned to Asseco Resovia Rzeszów. In April 2015, Aleksander Śliwka was called up to the senior Polish national team by coach Stéphan Antiga. Since May 2018, he has represented ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle. On September 30, 2018, together with the Polish national team, the graduate won the title of Men’s Volleyball World Champion, and on July 23, 2023, won the gold medal of the Nations League. An interesting fact is that Aleksander Śliwka comes from a family associated with volleyball, his parents, two sisters and a younger brother also play this sport.
