Michał Godek was a guest at “Rector’s Coffee with a Graduate”
At the meeting with Rector UITM, Andrzej Rozmus, Ph.D., Assoc. Prof. UITM and Vice–Rector for Teaching PhD Barbara Przywara, told about his current workplace and responsibilities – We provide outpatient rehabilitation and home physiotherapy services, and run the following departments: rehabilitation for children with developmental age disorders and general rehabilitation. The center has facilities in two provinces – Podkarpackie and Opolskie. In my current position, among other things, I am responsible for arranging the schedule of coordinators and managers at all facilities, as well as taking care of day-to-day matters arising from the business, e.g., matters related to the NFZ, AOTMiT, ZUS. I am also responsible for the implementation of new procedures and duties resulting from frequently changing legislation.
Michał Godek admitted that the responsibilities of his current job have severely limited his physiotherapy activities, but he still tries to help patients.
Asked how he perceives the future of the physiotherapy industry, he replied –The aging population, and consequently the growing number of people with health problems, including diseases of the musculoskeletal, circulatory, or respiratory systems, affects the development of this industry. The State Fund for the Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities (PFRON) and the National Health Fund (NFZ) are funding numerous rehabilitation programs and holidays, which increases the availability of these services to a wide range of patients. Investing in modern rehabilitation centers and equipment is necessary to meet patients’ expectations and provide them with the highest standard of health care.
According to Michał Godek, a key challenge for health care in Poland today is the availability of qualified rehabilitation specialists. Training and hiring an adequate number of physiotherapists is essential to meet the growing demand for these services, the guest of “Rector’s Coffee with a Graduate” stresses: It’s hard to name a health-related sphere in which physiotherapists can’t find and fulfill themselves.
From his studies at UITM, Michał Godek recalls especially his classes with Dr. Małgorzata Paszkowska: She has incredible knowledge about the functioning of health care in our country. I own several of her books, such as: “Management of Medical Activities” or “Health Insurance System in Poland”, are great compendiums of knowledge for me.
UITM graduate meetings with Rector’s Authorities are aimed at maintaining ties, cooperation in many common areas, i.e. business lodges, student workshops, student internships, projects and business collaborations, as well as developing the activities of the Graduate Club.
